Coronavirus and covid-19 message
As the president of the board of directors for the Kon–Tiki Chamber Music Festival I would like to inform our musical friends and patrons that the 10th anniversary 2020 KTCMF has been postponed to next year – more specific week 24 in 2021. The reason for this difficult decision is partly because of the border closures which will make it impossible for the international musicians to enter the country and also because the KTCMF board feels that it is irresponsible for the festival to arrange a gathering where the public and musicians potentially could get infected with a deadly virus.
Our goal is first and foremost that it is safe for our public to listen to classical music on the highest level – and at the same time being risk free for our wonderful musicians. Everyone should feel safe in the intimate chamber music atmosphere we strive to create. The board of Kon Tiki Chamber Music Festival have unanimously agreed that health is the most important aspect for our audience and musicians and we do not want to take any risks in jeopardizing the well being of our patrons.
As a “consolation prize”, KTCMF will offer past performances from the archives of our 9 years of concerts. This will be published on our website in the months of May and June.
Please stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back to a strong and virus free Kon-Tiki Chamber Music Festival in 2021!
