Free children's concert 23 May
at 12:00

Kon-Tiki Chamber Music Festival presents a free children's and family concert on the 23th of May at 12:00 at the Norwegian Maritime Museum; "Paddington the bear's first concert" and "Ferdinand the bull".

Paddington is based on a childhood favorite book by Michael Bond and follows the bear Paddington who travels as a stowaway on a ship from Peru to London where he meets his new friends: the Brown family and Mr. Gruber. He is introduced to concerts and music on his journey and the musical story includes pieces by Haydn, Rossini and Schubert.

Ferdinand the bull is a story about a bull who would rather smell beautiful flowers and enjoy life than fight in a bullfight. He is chosen to participate in the biggest competition in all of Spain, but what happens when he enters the arena? Find out at the concert!

For pianist and Atlanta classical music fixture Julie Coucheron, the Georgian Chamber Players’ concert on Sunday, April 21, at Trinity Presbyterian was the culmination of a hectic weekend of unexpected performances. Her brother, violinist and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concertmaster David Coucheron, called her in to substitute Thursday night as part of the ASO’s pre-concert chamber music series when cellist Daniel Laufer became unavailable.

Coucheron and Shi were perfectly blended throughout the performance. Their communication and awareness were telepathic, and they provided a bright and joyous performance of a masterpiece. The pair’s commanding yet gentle presence on stage perfectly aligned with the musical ongoings of the piece, and they deservingly received all four of their standing ovations.

Review: Georgian Players explore outer limits of classical chamber music

The Georgian Chamber Players returned to their familiar haunt at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta on Sunday for an afternoon of their signature mastery of the classical chamber pantheon, an event notable for its high-energy setlist.
