THE KON-TIKI CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL, Norwegian Maritime Museum, BYGDØY, 22-26 AUGUST 2016
MUSEUM, FOOD, and MUSIC
The concept: This festival, now in its sixth year, has developed its own unique form. In Norway, as elsewhere, one might think we’d be in competition with the music of “our time”. But Classical Music is “of all times” – including our own. The quality of the musicians invited to perform is exceptional. They have received awards and prizes from all over the world.

It’s no coincidence that the Norwegian Maritime Museum is the where we perform. To be honest, Norway is not only the longest country in Europe but also the most beautiful. As seafarers, Norwegians have looked outward to the world around us, particularly to Europe and America. Yet David and Julie always will return here, to their homeland, and show it off to their friends with pride and joy.
The program decisions are not yet complete, but you will most probably hear music of: Schumann (Dicherliebe), Schubert (Fantasy for Four Hands), Mozart (Quartet for Oboe and Strings), Brahms (Piano Trio, nr. 3), Shostakovich (Piano Trio for Violin and Cello), Purcell (violin and viola), Beethoven (Sonata for Violin and Piano), Grieg (Sonata for Violin and Piano, nr. 3), and Chopin (Polonaise Brilliante, for cello and piano).

(By the way, we’ll also be serving typical Norwegian sandwiches – which are actually quite exclusive because of their quality. We’ve overheard people say that the food alone was worth the price of the ticket.)
We wish you our very best regards and look forward to a happy reunion.
